Chhoti Diwali is also called Narak Chaturdashi. It is celebrated a day before the celebration of Diwali. In 2023, Diwali falls on Sunday, November 12, 2023. As per Drik Panchang, the Chaturdashi Tithi begins on November 11 at 1:57 PM and will end on November 12 at 2:44 PM.
History
As per Hindu mythology, Chhoti Diwali, also called Narak Chaturdashi is about King Naraksura. King Naraksura was a demon king who invaded the territories of Aditi, a Vedic goddess. Naraksura kidnapped the women and treated them badly. As a result, Satyabhama, along with Lord Krishna fought with King Narakasura and kicked him out of the territory of Goddess Aditi. Thus, the celebration of Chhoti Diwali is done to observe the victory of goodness over evil.
